Gentle or natural c-section
Hospitals increasingly offer natural c-sections, which aim to create an environment and experience that is much more like a vaginal birth. ‘A natural c-section takes a family-centred approach, which emulates as far as possible an experience that you could have with a vaginal birth,’ explains specialist midwife Jenny Smith.

Enhanced recovery
The aim of an enhanced recovery following an elective caesarean section is to reduce the time that you spend in hospital. If all is well you will be discharged home the following day.
